Brno for you

Brno for you is a non-profit organisation, founded in 2014, which aims to provide international opportunities for young people that bring them together and promote European values and a sense of European belonging.

In the Czech Republic, we organise camps for youth and youth workers that support the learning process through personal experience, as well as providing them with the opportunity to participate in these educational camps abroad.

In the Czech environment, we are pioneers in applying the approach of using non-formal education to naturally integrate youth. At each of our international camps, more than 2/3 of the participants come from different disadvantaged backgrounds.

In the past, we have included young people who were visually impaired, struggling with mild forms of mental disorders, disabled, socially and economically disadvantaged or children from ethnic minorities living in the Czech Republic.

In our projects we create an environment where being different from mainstream society is seen as an inspiration to gain new experiences, so we actively try to encourage the involvement of people from different backgrounds and create a safe atmosphere together where we can all develop our own attitudes, values and emotions with respect for each other. We strive to break down social prejudices and stereotypes by promoting self-experience and creating a more inclusive environment.

All our projects are based on non-formal education, which is the cornerstone of the Erasmus+ Youth and European Solidarity Corps programmes. Non-formal education has thus proven to be an effective way for us to contribute to addressing the educational needs of young Europeans outside the mainstream school system.

We aim to create activities based on personal experience that are easily adaptable to people with difficulties and inspire participants to learn from their own experiences. Using this interactive approach, we contribute to inclusion, respect for human rights, appreciation of the uniqueness of different cultures and the development of critical thinking. These values are also implemented in our projects. We make sure that the projects of our partners that we join also not only respect these values, but also actively promote them.

In the long term, we aim to develop local cooperation across NGOs, public and private sectors to engage disadvantaged youth in European opportunities. At the same time, we aim to ensure that non-formal education is recognised as a tool for natural inclusion.

In our network of partner organisations that work with disadvantaged youth (e.g. children’s homes, low-threshold centres, community centres, rural schools, etc.) we promote not only the opportunity to participate in international camps but also the opportunity to go on a volunteering experience. We believe that for participants with fewer opportunities, this opportunity could be the one that changes their lives.

Our values also include a commitment to maintaining a high standard of quality in the projects we deliver and a responsible approach to our participants, colleagues and partners. Our belief in what we do, and our values drive us to continuously improve our project management. The proof of our commitment is the stable network of international organisations and local partners we have built and the positive feedback from our participants.
